The historiated initial "H" introducing the response for Matins on Christmas Day shows Mary adoring the Christ Child in a stable. While the figures of Mary and Jesus, and the ox and the ass, seem awkward and imperfectly realized, the foliate decoration of the "H" and the angels in the corners are the work of a skilled hand.
