This historiated initial and its floriate border have been cut from a choir book and trimmed of all surrounding parchment, and thus of all clues as to its original context. When compared to the antiphonary displayed below, it clearly says more about post-medieval collection practices and attitudes than about the manuscript from which it was taken.
