Interested in the paradoxes created in opposing urbanity and nature, Webb captured these in this print. He depicted a miniature motor boat as if it could be zipping through the seafoam green waves of a large body of water, but instead it is trapped inside an ordinary bathroom sink. The composition of this print was derived from an acrylic painting completed in 1983, titled "Urban Daydream #9." Painted in a hyper-realistic manner, in this painting, Webb illustrated the fantasies of a nautical adventure confined to a daydream in a routine moment of life—standing at a bathroom sink.Physical Description
This print is a colorful image of a sink filled with green water. At the center, there is a miniature boat that floats in the water. On the counter-space of the sink at the back, there sits various toiletries such as mouthwash, perfume, toothbrushes, and a razor. Almost out of the frame, a red washcloth hangs off the left edge of the sink. The print is signed (l.r.) "Doug Webb" and numbered (l.l.) "AP 24/75" in pencil.Primary Object Classification Print Primary Object Typeartist's proofCollection AreaModern and ContemporaryRights
