Credit LineGift of Mr. and Mrs. Philip ShorrSubject matterCreated while Aaron Siskind was in residence at Black Mountain College in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, this landscape, visible through a window, suggests Siskind's interest in abstraction of the world around him. A hazy view of mountains and trees is visible in the distance. However, black flaking paint partially blocks and frames the view, while an undulating line running across the window creates an artificial horizon line around which the composition is structured.
Physical DescriptionA partially-blocked view of a landscape viewed through a window pane.
