Credit LineGift of Stanley T. Lesser, A.B. 1951, J.D. 1953Subject matterThis photograph depicts a wide view of a rocky landscape with a butte rising in the distance. The butte’s craggy slope is dotted with stones and shrubs, and is topped by a large boulder. Before the butte runs a series of roads, telephone poles, traffic signs and electrical wires. The photographer created this photograph while standing in the shadow of an automobile, which is cast towards the butte by the raking light behind the camera. The dark shape of the car’s shadow cast on the asphalt mirrors the shape of the natural monument set before it. Running along the bottom of the photograph are hints of the 35mm negative’s sprocket holes.
Physical DescriptionThis photograph depicts a view of a landscape with streets lined with telephone poles and a rocky butte rising in the distance. The large, dark shadow of a car is cast on the road in the foreground.
