Credit LineMuseum PurchaseSubject matterThis photograph articulates the densely built nature of urban architecture in Paris. The narrowness of the passageway is accentuated by the steeply receding perspective of the street and the tall walls of the adjacent buildings, limiting access to most of the sky. Light, which enters the passageway from the upper left corner of the image, dapples the side of the buildings on the right, providing a diagonal line through the photograph that intersects with the recession of the street from foreground to background.
Physical DescriptionView of a passageway in Paris.
