Subject matter
This black-and-white photograph depicts people playing in the water by a lake shore. A woman in a bikini at the center midground throws up her hands, releasing her crutches mid-air. A woman stands in the left foreground holding her toddler and young kids playing in the right foreground look on. The exchange of gazes creates a pyramidal composition, accentuated by each figure's sharp, silhouetted contours, which cut against the bright reflection of light on the rippling water surface.
