Subject matter
The larger figure is a 'Heavenly official' wearing elaborate Qing-style court robes. His robe features a white crane in the center, which symbolizes peace and longevity, and also depicts his rank. The smaller figure is holding a teapot, and the speech bubble above the books translates to "uniting territory." The clouds in the background represent the celestial realm, since clouds were created between heaven and earth.

Physical Description
Left panel of a diptych on a cardboard backing. A bearded figure is dressed in an elaborate robe with crane motifs and is holding a vase with long flowers. He stands against a green-blue background, which is covered in a lattice of white clouds. A smaller, childlike figure stands next to him and is holding a teapot with a speech bubble above it. They are facing right.
