The piece exemplifies the shift in Fritz Wotruba’s style during the early years of the 1950s. As he traveled from Venice to Munich, Brussels, and London his style became increasingly geometric and reduced to basic shapes. The figures in this sculpture are comprised primarily of rectangles in different sizes and orientations.
