This black and white print depicts a male lion attacking the body of a horse near a rocky cave. Only the front portion of the horse is shown, lying on its side on the ground. The lion crouches above the horse and presses down with its front paws, claws extended, as it sinks its teeth into the horse's neck. There is a fierce, wild eyed expression on the lion's face. The scene is set in an undefined rocky landscape.

The Concert
The circular room’s ceiling is painted with a sky motif populated by cupids; the room also features ornamental mouldings above four windows that depict musical instruments, and busts on pedastals are placed between the windows. A large number of well-dressed men and women sit while a group of musicians in the center of the room perform on a piano, flutes, cellos, a harp, and other stringed instruments. This black and white print has a long vertical format showing two nude figures standing in front of a tree trunk. The female is holding an apple in each hand and has her left foot resting on a tablet with the letters HGB. Her face is turned to look at the figure behind her. This figure holds her shoulder with one hand and with the other places a leafy branch in front of her genitalia. On the bottom left corner is a date 1519.

This small print depicts an ornamental pattern composed of curled acanthus leaves and spiralling vines terminating in flowers or buds. The plant ornament forms a symmetrical pattern around a central motif inscribed with the initials &quot;HSB,&quot; which are conjoined. This motif is framed by two horn-shaped containers that end in monsters&#39; heads.

Combat of Romans and Dacians (after a relief on the Arch of Constantine, Rome)
This engraving reproduces a relief sculpture from the second century CE of Roman soldiers under Emperor Trajan conquering the Dacians in what is today Romania. The sculpture was later removed from its original monument built to honor Trajan and incorporated into the Arch of Constantine, erected in Rome by the emperor Constantine between 312 and 315.<br /> The relief depicts mounted Roman soldiers, dressed in their characteristic armor and helmets, surging to the left and right from the center of the scene. A group of soldiers sounding horns stands in their midst. The Romans&#39; vanquished Dacian foes lie trampled beneath the horses&#39; hooves.

After A Sibyl with a Child Holding a Torch (also on view), Ugo da Carpi continued to produce chiaroscuro woodcuts after Raphael’s drawings. The balanced, geometrical composition of Descent from the Cross clearly displays the influence of the master, whose name is inscribed along the bottom margin. The print also reveals Ugo da Carpi’s increased facility with the medium compared to his earlier efforts. He uses two tone blocks, for instance, instead of one to create shadows, and he eliminates some of the dark contour lines around the figures and the arms of the cross, relying instead upon the tones to define the forms in these areas. Although Raphael’s untimely death in 1520 cut short their collaboration, Ugo da Carpi’s prints had a lasting impact and remained in demand for centuries.

Subject matter
This print represents the removal of Jesus' body after his crucifixion. Four men, including Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea, work to lower his body from the cross. The group of mourners at the foot of the cross includes the Virgin Mary, who slumps forward in a swoon, and John the Evangelist, who supports her from behind. The balanced composition and the dignified emotional restraint of the figures in the print reveal the influence of Raphael.
