Credit LineGift of Jack A. and Noreen RounickSubject matterMusic plays, people dance, and disco balls swirl to create what seems to be your typical party scene—perhaps your average Saturday night. Looking closer, we see that Simmons uses surreal photographic techniques, capturing miniature figures in monochromatic, ambiguous miniature settings, intentionally distorting the viewer's perspective and creating a realm of fantasy and fiction. “The dummy is such a metaphor for lying and telling the truth,” Simmons says. They are used here to deceive.
Physical DescriptionThe image depicts figures beneath three disco balls in three different horizontal compartments; one red, another yellow, and the third blue.
