Subject matter
This scene represents the image of a young woman drying herself after taking a bath.  This particular piece is the second state of the lithographic After the Bath III.  The original image included a maid and the back of a chaise; these, and most of the rest of the background were removed from the earlier version.

Physical Description
A nude woman seen from behind bends forward, holding a towel in her right hand.  Her hair falls over her head towards the ground.  Rumpled fabrics on the edge of a bed are seen in the foreground of the image.
