The Temples of Greece which is comprised of black-and-white photographs depicting dramatic Greek landscapes, each accented by ancient ruins. The rich tonal ranges in the prints reflect the majesty of the expansive scenes. As described in the introduction of the portfolio, at Epidauros, “men and nature come to rest in communication. The stadium locks into the conical hill. The groves are gentle; their surfaces are soft, as classical as Claude’s.” -Vincent J. Scully, 1982
Physical DescriptionThis photograph depicts a temple on a rolling hillside. Trees line the landscape, with the largest tree located in the foreground. A mountain line the horizon in the background and the sky is full of clouds.
