Fourth Grade Tour: Write for Understanding

Description: This tour examines a few carefully selected works and asks students to closely observe them. Students will write in the galleries, making connections between the creative processes of the writer and the visual artist. Some writing techniques students may encounter include: compare/contrast, detailed description of a setting, figurative language, dialogue, and narrative sequencing.

Concepts: Language Arts (Explore and begin to use language appropriate for different contexts and purposes) and Art (Analyze and reflect on the elements of art and design to communicate ideas).

Images: The featured images are possibilities that you may encounter in this tour. Because of variables such as availability and time, you may not see these exact art works.
