Van Mieris made three paintings showing the Trojan prince and shepherd Paris with the nymph Oenone in a landscape. Our drawing may be a preparatory study or copy of one of these. Its exquisitely soft effect comes from the artist's skillful handling of graphite and the way that this medium lies on the parchment.Primary Object Classification Drawing Primary Object Typepreparatory drawingCollection AreaWesternRights
