Subject matter
This is one of six views of London that Whistler drew from the rooms he rented on the top floor of the recently opened Savoy Hotel. This view includes Charing Cross railroad bridge, Westminster Bridge and Westminster Palace in the distance.

Physical Description
A vignetted view looking down a river with a roadway on one side, bridges crossing, and distant buildings with towers. In the foreground is the cropped inclusion of a balcony railing; two birds are perched on the railing.
