Artist(s)Warren LombardArtist NationalityAmerican (North American)Object Creation Date1919Medium & Supportpen and inkDimensions 6 in. x 8 in. ( 15.2 cm x 20.3 cm )
Credit LineGift of Prof. and Mrs. Alfred H. WhiteSubject matterLombard summered in Monhegan, Maine and developed much of his aesthetic and subject matter there. Monhegan was a well known artist colony that had existed since the mid-nineteenth century. In this image, Lombard focuses almost exclusively on the rocks. There are only hints of the water that lies below. The repetition of thin lines on the rocks produces the distinctive rough texture.
