Subject matter
After World War II Lopez's work shifted from the depiction of laborers and scenes of Michigan to more symbolic and fantasy themed subjects. This piece features seven different figures, or characters, in a variety of costume-like outifts. None of them appear to be particularly happy which was common for the people Lopez's later works that had darker, sadder themes. Despite their close proximity, they are not interacting with each other. The figures in his pieces appeared to become increasingly isolated like they are in Proof No. 2.
