"This bowl on a high flaring foot probably was made in Kashan during the early years of the 13th century. Aside from a few touches of blue at the rim, the decoration consists of an undulating arabesque scroll which has been incised into the wall of the vessel just below the rim. The contours of the leaf forms were further defined by punching small holes in the vessel's walls which were subsequently filled by the transparent glaze. The connection of this group to Kashan is suggested by a bowl now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in which the interior of the vessel has blue and black underglaze painting in a style well known from other Kashan wares." -PPS

Baked clay plate with vegetal motif. Paste is a gray-white porcelain, glaze is glossy with a few cracks. The plate was fired upright and contains cobalt on light gray-white colors. The plate is attributed to Kerman of the Safavid period. The swirling treatment of the vegetal forms reflect the Persian adaptation of Chinese wares that occured in this area. Also attributed to Kerman is the dark blue color used to define the painted areas without the hardegded precision of other production centers.

This inlaid bronze casket with Kufic inscription was masterfully produced in the 12th century Seljuk period. Possibly of Syrian origin, the lid is hammered from a flat sheet of brass with the bottom formed by folding and joining a section cut from a flat sheet. The seams are on three sides of the base and in the rear under the right-hand hinge. Brass hinges on the object are attached by copper rivets. Originally, the object would have a handle and front clasp which are now missing.
