Two tall, rectangular intersecting planes, one black and one white, create the appearance of a tall, minimal structure. Vertical lines of black and white add to the structure, which at its base projects slightly into a rough square shape that seems to delineate a kind of ground or base. The space around the structure is ochre.

This black and white print depicts geometric forms arranged to suggest some kind of mechanical contraption. Two larger circular forms are arranged side-by-side in the center of the composition. A line rest diagonally atop these forms and above the line an assortment of circular and less definite shapes and textures (depicted with cross-hatching and other techniques) are described. The print is imbued with a smoke-like atmosphere as a result of the spitbite and aquatint.<br />

Subject matter
As with many of Howard Bond's photographs, this image depicts a detail from a larger architectural structure that the photographer has rendered at such close range it becomes almost abstract. Strong contrasts between light and dark further flatten the image and divorce it from its context—only the title tells us we are looking at a building in Greece. Subtle, swirling, textural variations are visible on the concrete surface of the building, but the overarching impression of the structure is rigid, geometric precision.
