As light fills the space, Brancusi is seated, surrounded by his tall stone and wood sculptures. Brancusi holds a blade in his hand, presumably taking a moment of pause from carving his sculptures. Edward Steichen, the photographer of this image, was introduced to Brancusi in Rodin's studio in 1914, and they became lifelong friends.
