Subject matter
The painting depicts people leaving the church in the village of Labastide-du-Vert, located in the Lot department of southwest France.

Physical Description
A church spire rises in the center of the strongly vertical composition, flanked by a group of tall, thin trees on the left, and a pair of the same trees on the right. Gently rounded mountains rise in the background against a soft blue sky. A stretch of bright green grass dominates the foreground of the composition, and church-goers leave the rustic stone church via a tan-colored path in the middleground.
