Subject matter
In Let Them Kill Themselves, Lyon documented urban life in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He first met a group of boys on the J Train. Intrigued by them, he followed them, asking to take their photographs. He continued to take a series of photographs of boys in the neighborhood. One part of the series includes the group of friends playing wiffleball. An unnamed subject appears here in a paved lot, surrounded by brick walls, standing on one foot, winding up to hit the ball.
