Subject matterPortrait of Louis XIV, King of France.
Physical DescriptionThis print depicts an oval frame that contains a frontal bust-length portrait of a man with his head in three-quarter profile against a black background. The man wears an elaborate and stiff lace cravat but most remarkable is his flowing head of long, curly hair, which is very finely rendered. The frame rests atop a sculptural base with a coat of arms decorated with three fleurs-de-lys.
