Credit LineGift of Mr. and Mrs. James Agah, Class of 1989 (BBA)Subject matterThis photograph presents a view down onto a busy plaza in front of the Soviet Palace of Congress in Moscow. The slender line of a flagpole forms a vertical axis that divides the composition roughly in half. Additional, shorter flagpoles, as well as trees and tall buildings, rhyme visually with the stark vertical orientation of this central flag. The crowd that occupies the plaza appears like a cluster of dark, ambiguous shapes. The diaphanous silhouettes of buildings in the distance indicate the skyline of Moscow.
Physical DescriptionA tall flagpole occupies a central location in a busy city plaza; the adumbrated profiles of buildings can be seen in the distance.
