Subject matterThis photograph depicts a view across the calm waters of Lake Como, Italy. Silhouetted leaves and branches frame the topmost portion of the image and the viewer is invited to peek through the flora to the scene beyond. From this vantage point, the viewer can see a passage of water and a small boat draped with sails moored along a wooden dock. Struss' use of an unusual viewpoint and selective focus allow the viewer to observe the contrasting textures of the leaves, water and boat all bathed in muted sunlight.
Physical DescriptionView of a yacht across water and through tree leaves and branches.
