Credit LineGift of Jack A. and Noreen RounickSubject matterLeRoy Neiman was an illustrator and painter, best known for his depictions of sporting and entertainment events. As one of the official artists of the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan, Neiman depicted the U.S.A. team in victory--possibly in their finals match against Czechoslovakia to win the Silver Metal. Here, he depicts the ice-hockey players energetically throwing their arms in the air, and the teferee signaling the goal by lifting right arm in the air. This design is similar to Neiman's
Red Goal screenprint from the next year in composition.
