Subject matter
Actor Iwai Shijaku I, also known as Iwai Hanshirō VII, was the oldest son of Iwai Hanshirō V.  He was born in 1804 and died in 1845.

This is part of a series, of which UMMA has two.  Pair with 2003/1.606.

Physical Description
In this print, a woman seated on the floor holds out a dish with a sandal in it.  The bottom of her robe is decorated with bamboo stalks and a blue and gold border.  The top is purple with a gold crest on the sleeve.  She holds a towel in her right hand.  Above her are lines of calligraphy against a plain background of blue and white bands.
