Subject matter
The design for this poster is almost identical to an illustration Rand created for the 1956 children’s book I Know a Lot of Things. Rand carries the playful sensibility of the original through to the 1994 iteration. The absence of the human form between the umbrella overhead and the rainboots below draws attention to the text. Rand relies on humor as a way to make the Club appealing. The image itself is not relevant to the conference, but because of its clever use of text and imagery, it is an effective design.
