Credit LineGift of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. ClarkSubject matterA prominent artist in Houston throughout out the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, Boyton is recognized for being a pioneer of avant garde art in the area. His work, such as this print, often had a modern and abstract style. Here, Boynton depicted a portion of a wall peeling away to reveal a red expanse. As the series title suggests, this opening is perhaps a depiction of an opening to an alternate dimension.
Physical DescriptionIn the center of the print, a red square is revealed by the white of the wall peeling and curling downwards. The print is signed and dated (l.l.) "James Boynton 1970" and numbered (l.r.) "V/XV" in pencil.
