Credit LineMuseum PurchaseLabel copyThis representation of a nude in a garden setting bears the hallmarks of the Art Nouveau style—sinuous line, flattened form, and a decorative surface. The title translates literally as "the swain's hour" or more fluently as "the favorable moment for a lover." In the journal L'Estampe moderne the print was accompanied by a poem by the Symbolist poet Paul Verlaine about the moment when twilight becomes night.
