Subject matter
Basketball depicts a men's bastketball game in the 1930s. One player is going for the net with his team behind him and one defender attempting to block the shot. This print was commissioned by one of the New Deal art projects that supported artists during the Great Depression. The artist Joseph Vogel was politically active within the Federal Arts Projects as well as in social and artists movements. 

Physical Description
A team of men in green jerseys and pink shorts competing against a team in blue jerseys at a game of basketball. A player on the green team is in mid-air and appears to be nearing the rim of the hoop with the basketball.
