Subject matter
This photograph comes from Dress, a series undertaken by Walker Evans in 1963, wherein the photographer attempted to document contemporary fashion, broadly defined to take into account both haute couture and more mundane daily wear. ​This specific image of a display in a clothing store shows a variety of men's jeans and shoes.
