Credit LineGift of Clayton E. WilhiteSubject matterThis photograph shows a scene in a wooded park where ancient tombstones and monuments reside alongside the trees. Two, large, stone animals stand in the center of the image, one a horse and the other a ram. Despite being pocked and stained with age, they are wholly intact, and seem to stare calmly and resolutely off-frame. The ram lies in a soft bed of leafy greens. The serene, unconcerned expression of the sculptures paired with the cascading greens of the forest floor and vine-covered trees lends this image a strong sense of tranquility and silence.
Physical DescriptionThis photograph depicts a forested scene with two large, stone animals occupying the center of the frame.
