This drawing depicts part of a large, Gothic-style church with lancet windows and buttresses, seen at night. Around the exterior of the building are two trees, a lamppost, four bollards, and a person seen in silhouette. A light source outside the image illuminates part of the church’s large arched window, and casts long shadows that fall to the left side of the composition.
In this nighttime view down a street, buildings along the left-hand side of the street are shown in sharp recession. A solitary figure is seen in the shadows on the left-hand side half way down the street. The sky is darkened with parallel horizontal hatching lines. The only source of light is a lantern on the wall of the right side of the street. Dark shadows fall across the buildings on the left side.

In this strongly vertical composition, a tall archway frames a view of the chatoic maze of further arches, roofs, walls and windows along a small, winding side street. The artist selectively describes various material details, such as the stones and bricks of the walls, and the sagging tile roofs. All elements in the image seem to register the effects of time.
The title “STREET IN PORTO MAURIZIO” is etched by hand in the plate just below the lower left edge of the composition.

A sweeping panorama of a city is visible from an elevated vantage point. Bridges cross a river and boats are evident. The river occupies the right side of the composition and the curving near bank of the river dominates the left side of the work. The cityscape includes many buildings, culimnating in one large dome in the distance. There is evidence that a window ledge exists along the bottom of the image and in the distance there are blustery clouds, indicating a leaden wintery sky.

A street or courtyard fills the middle distance. A handful of figures stand or sit in front of the buildings on the right; only a single cow at the right occupies the open space in the foreground. The low buildings are, on the left side, brightly lit while the structures on the right are in shadow.

This horizontal format painting is done in shades of light and dark gray, cream and yellow. With abstracted forms it depicts jagged mountains sihouetted against a cloudy sky. In front of these mountains there are rolling hills and geometric forms that suggest a cityscape. In the foreground there are more mountain peaks.
