Subject matter
Much of Mania's work incorporates portraits of youths combined with decorative, largely geometric patterned backgrounds, amd overlays and collaged elements. Like this one, the often appropriated portraits become removed from any recognizable environment and stare straight at the viewer. Presenting inquiries into ideas about identity, his work often creates new mythologies that are both subtle and fantastic.

Physical Description
This drawing and collage shows the head of a figure with gray diamonds and blue stripes across his face. Strips and diamonds in a metallic material overlay the drawing. The piece is in the artist-made original frame and the drawing is signed and dated on the veneer (l.r.) "A. Mania 06".
