Subject matter
A pale, gray-green celadon glazed jar of the Western Jin dynasty (265-317).

Plain jars of this type were considered less expensive than those with animal head lugs and handles that were also produced during this time-period.  Jars such as these have been found primarily in Hunan but could have also been made at the yue kilns in nearby Zhejiang and Jaiangsu.

Physical Description
A squat, globular jar with an inverted direct rim.  There are two opposing applied coil handles on the rim and a wide footing. It is covered in a pale gray-green celadon glaze.
