Plain jars of this type were considered less expensive than those with animal head lugs and handles that were also produced during this time-period. Jars such as these have been found primarily in Hunan but could have also been made at the
yue kilns in nearby Zhejiang and Jaiangsu.
Physical DescriptionA squat, globular jar with an inverted direct rim. There are two opposing applied coil handles on the rim and a wide footing. It is covered in a pale gray-green celadon glaze.
