These two bowls were made for household use. In ancient time, although lacquer utensils were as common as ceramic wares, the former were favored by the upper class. In comparison, lacquer objects are finer with brighter colors than coarse ceramics. When serving hot food, lacquer ware has the advantage of remaining cool to the touch.
