Subject matter
New York is an abstract depiction of the city in a modernistic style. Walkowitz worked on several prints of the city from various perspectives and in varying levels of abstraction. During two trips to Euorpe in the early twentieth century he was greatly influenced by Picasso and then by Modernism which is a style he embraced for this print.

Physical Description
This is an abstract composition of loose, overall, intersecting lines. Some are rounded squiggles, others are straight, and a circle appears at the top.
