Subject matter
The image shows a pier covered with snow jutting out into a body of water. The foreground shows small weeds emerging from the snowy ground. The dock extends vertically approximately two thirds up the length of the image. Juxtapositions of texture and tone abound, as the flufffy texture of snow is set against the rough wood grain and the slightly agitated water surface.
