Subject matter
In this photograph of a seascape, the sandy beach and water are so strongly illuminated that sea and sky lack a clear horizon line and instead, appear to blur into one expanse of warm orange light. With the dominant orangish hue that suffuses the scene, the image is an exercise in gradated tonalities, subtly playing out across differentiated zones of wet and dry sand, sun-lit and shadowed faces of rocks, and agitated and placid areas of the water surface. Two miniscule human figures occupy the middleground.
