Subject matter
After The Bikeriders series, Lyon decided to go South in search of a new project. He stopped in Knoxville, Tennessee, creating many unpublished works of the people in the town. Many of these images include young men and boys working on automobiles, or relaxing with friends in cars. In this image four young men lounge in a 1953 Ford, which Lyon recalls finding broken down on the side of the road. After helping the owner, Lyon took a series of photographs of him and his friends.
