Physical DescriptionThis colored etching with aquatint depicts a night scene of a large illuminated cascade of fountains. A raised architectural structure with three arches is placed in the center left of the composition. A series of cascades descend from this structure and lead into a pool of water decorated with a series of geyser fountains spouting water upward. Many small groups of figures in elegant costumes are gathered around the water. Their costumes appear to be hand painted in pink, blue, white and black wash. The upper third of the image is devoted to the dark night sky.
