Wessel Couzijn was primarily a sculptor, making many three-dimensional pieces in bronze and stainless steel. He was born in Amsterdam and fled to the United States during World War II. Upon returning to his native country he discovered the destruction left by the war and worked to fill the demand for monuments and memorials.
