Subject matter
Boats sail across Lake Hamana near the Arai station along the Tokaido Road. Travelers would often cross this lake to reach the next station at Maisaka.

Physical Description
Three sailboats with dramatic bowed square sails dominate the print. There are more sailing on the water in the distance. The sky appears to be red on the edge of the horizon of the sea, suggesting the time as either at dawn or at dusk. Writing in the upper left and right corners. Title in red box in upper right corner.
