Subject matter
This etching comes from a suite of illustrations the artist created for La Fontaine's Fables.  This image depicts the fable of the hen with the golden eggs.

Physical Description
Black and white etching shows a figure of a large hen in the central portion of the image with a small male figure on the middle right side of the image. Darkened tree branches extend from the left middle side to the upper right corner of the image.
