Subject matter
Created by a prominent American abstract sculptor, this drawing is likely a study after one of his sculptures. Lipton's abstract sculptures were often meant to convey the complexities of the human psyche. 

Physical Description
This drawing on paper shows an abstract sculptural object on a rectangular base. The object has one large spike coming from the base, with a large tree-like spikes branching out from the top. There is a double horizon line in the background where the artist has signed and dated the work in black crayon (c.r.) "Lipton 57".
