Subject matter
On his foundation's website, Otmar Alt states, "It is my wish that my paintings contribute to us interacting with each other in a more humane way." His tools for achieving this goal are his artistic staples of bright colors and imaginary creatures like those in this print. Characteristic of his work, this piece requires the viewer to use their imagination to formulate the animal's shapes. Today, Alt identifies as a member of the New Figuration movement which emphasizes the figure as the focus of art.
