Subject matter

The matsukawa bishi pattern is the interlocking geometric pine river motif.

Tsumugi is a type of soft fabric woven from raw silk, often worn for casual occasions.  The typical tsumugi types include Ooshima, Yuki, Shinozawa, Ueda, named after its area of production.The inner lining includes eight different parts (hakkake) on the bottom and sleeve edges that gives the inner lining a more colorful appearance.
