Credit LineMuseum PurchaseSubject matterBraid is an etching of Diana Michener's hair. She was Dine's partner at the time and later they married. In the print the braid is standing alone as a representation of her. In other prints, Dine has made art using tools as models to represent a childhood nostalgia and memory for the hardware store his father owned. This braid is similar in that it is meant to evoke the emotions of his relationship.
Physical DescriptionThis almost photo-realist like print shows a long, thin braid of hair tied at either end. At the bottom of the print is the single word in all capital letters, "BRAID".
